The Surrey Hills

The Classic Surrey Hills (Long Version) is the other classic London Dynamo ride in the area.

This one tackles five notable climbs. After the Staple Lane climb the route descends into Shere before climbing again up Peaslake Lane, and then Leith Hill.  A fourth significant climb up to Ranmore Common is followed by the usual descent and Box Hill climb.

Starting point: Dish Café, East Molesey.

Suggested café: Box Hill Eatery (62km).

This is a relatively fast flowing ride that heads up to Shere via Newlands Corner and on to Box Hill before returning via Bockett’s Farm.

Starting point: Dish Café, East Molesey.

This loop heads south out of Cobham and climbs up to White Downs and then Leith Hill.

The route then descends down into a loop towards Rusper where the route heads north back towards London via Denbies Farm and Juniper.

Starting point: Dish Café, East Molesey.

Suggested café: Tanhouse Café, Tanhouse Farm (46km).

The Milk Churn Loop explores the area between Godalming and the West Sussex border. Heading south out of Cobham the route heads up to Shere and the wooded areas beyond, before dropping down through Ewhurst and to Rudgwick near the border. The loop then swings round to the west skirting Godalming and Guildford before returning north.

Starting point: Dish Café, East Molesey

Suggested café: Milk Churn Cafe, Rudgwick (44km).

The Devil’s Punchbowl offers up a longer ride with some of the most spectacular views in the Surrey Hills.

The route has two notable climbs: the climb up Chalk Lane and Combe Lane through Effingham Forest and a longer climb up Punchbowl Lane to Hindhead Common and the Devil’s Punchbowl.

The route then swings round to drop out of the hills and heading up to the west of Guildford before taking a flat route back to London.

Starting point: Dish Café, East Molesey.

Suggested café: National Trust Café at The Devil’s Punchbowl (56km).

This long route heads out to the heathland and ponds beyond Guildford. After one large climb up Staple Lane to the Shere Woodlands the route turns away from the hills and begins a rolling route. Looping wide of Guildford, it heads through heathland to the area south of Godalming. From there it takes a loop around the ponds at Frensham.

Starting point: Dish Café, East Molesey.

Suggested café: Frensham Great Pond Snack Bar (65km)
