This route heads up past the lakes and marshes of the Lee Valley before looping back down through Epping Forest.
The route up the valley passes the Walthamstow Wetlands, Waltham Abbey, Lee Valley Country Park and the River Lee Navigation canal. The return leg heads first out into open farmland before heading right through the heart of Epping Forest before back into London.
Starting point: Café Society by Vauxhall Bridge.
Suggested café stop: Boathouse Café Bar, Roydon Marina (42km).
The route broadly mirrors the Frensham Pond Loop route in the Surrey Hills section but this time favours off-road tracks, exploring more of the heathland and Frensham Common itself in the south-western corner of Surrey.
Starting point: The Coppernose, Hampton Court.
Suggested café: Frensham Great Pond Snack Bar (59 km)
This ride takes us a largely off-road route from Hampton Court Palace heading south-east out of Surrey and into Kent where it descends off the north ridge of the Downs and winds its way offroad to Churchill’s family home of Chartwell. It then heads through woods of Toys Hill before the return leg back to Surrey.
Starting point: Coppernose Café, Hampton Court.
Suggested café: Landmare Café, Chartwell (56km).
The Henry VIII loop extends the Chartwell loop. Rather than heading over to Chartwell and Toys Hill, it heads further south to Hever Castle (home of the Boleyns hence the route name), Chiddingstone castle & village before a steep climb up Yorks Hill and the return leg to Surrey.
Starting Point: The Coppernose, Hampton Court Palace.
Suggested Café: Chiddingstone Castle Tea Room or The Tulip Tree, Chiddingstone (both 68km).
