Code of Conduct

London Dynamo is committed to safeguarding the well-being of all its members and creating a positive, respectful and inclusive environment. This Code of Conduct outlines the expected standards of behavior and responsibilities for all participants, coaches, officials and spectators involved in club activities.

Core Principles

  • Promote fairness, honesty and sportsmanship.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every individual.
  • Operate within the rules of the sport and the laws of the land.
  • Create an environment free from discrimination, harassment, bullying and intimidation.
  • Represent the club positively, on and off the bike.

1. Health & Safety Guidelines

To ensure the safety of all members:

  • Always wear a helmet and use lights where required.
  • Ride a well-maintained bicycle.
  • Follow all instructions given by the ride leader.
  • Report all accidents to the ride leader immediately.
  • Your safety is our top priority. If someone is injured, do not attempt to move them unless it is absolutely safe and necessary. Seek help from those nearby and call the emergency services immediately if required.
  • Be realistic about your cycling abilities; communicate any concerns with the ride leader.
  • Obey the Highway Code and use proper hand signals and verbal warnings.
  • Ride safely, considerately and courteously at all times.

2. Group Riding Etiquette

  • Club rides are not races; ride cooperatively and with patience.
  • Ride no more than two abreast unless overtaking; ride single file when appropriate.
  • Stop and assist fellow riders experiencing mechanical issues or physical problems.
  • Never leave a rider behind without mutual agreement.
  • Inform the ride leader before leaving a group.
  • Carry spare inner tubes, tyre levers, and a pump or gas.
  • Do not spit or clear your nose in proximity to others. Medical exceptions should be handled discreetly and respectfully.

3. Equipment & Apparel

  • Club kit should be worn on official rides and events.
  • Members who leave the club must not wear, sell, or give away club kit except to another member or an overseas charity.

4. Behaviour and Conduct

All members must:

  • Treat others with respect and courtesy.
  • Refrain from using offensive language or aggressive behavior.
  • Avoid bullying, harassment or discrimination of any kind.
  • Not use or encourage use of illegal substances.
  • Refrain from unlawful acts or behaviour that could damage the club’s reputation.
  • Follow instructions from officials, police or ride leaders.
  • Understand the consequences of misconduct or breaches.

5. Red Light and Earphone Policy

  • No Red Light Jumping: All traffic signals must be obeyed when riding in club kit or on club rides.
  • No Earphones or Headphones: For safety, members must not wear any hearing-obstructing devices during club rides.

Reports of breaches of these rules will be considered by the Committee, which reserves the right to issue warnings, suspend or expel members based on the nature and seriousness of the incident.

All disciplinary actions remain at the discretion of the Committee.

6. Social Media & Public Representation

Members are expected to:

  • Refrain from publishing inflammatory, offensive or derogatory comments online.
  • Use respectful, accurate and appropriate language.
  • Credit original creators when sharing third-party content.
  • Manage personal accounts responsibly, especially when associated with the club.

7. Environmental Responsibility

  • Littering during rides or events is strictly prohibited.
  • Riders must dispose of all waste responsibly.
  • Carry waste until it can be properly discarded.

8. Disciplinary Procedure

  • Any member who breaches this Code of Conduct or acts in a manner that brings the club into disrepute may be warned, suspended or expelled at the discretion of the Committee.
  • Expelled members must return all club property within 7 days.
  • No refunds of membership fees will be issued upon expulsion except in exceptional circumstances at the Committee’s discretion.

9. Appeals

  • Members may appeal a suspension or expulsion by submitting a written appeal to the Club Secretary.
  • Appeals will be reviewed within 30 days and the decision will be final.

10. Membership & Payment Policy

  • Members must pay annual fees promptly.
  • Repeated late payment will result in a ban from club activities and events until resolved.

11. Conflict of Interest Policy

Committee members must declare any conflicts of interest relating to club decisions or commercial affiliations.This Code of Conduct is binding on all London Dynamo members. By joining or continuing membership, individuals agree to uphold these standards for the benefit of all.
