About this route
This route was designed by the organisers of the London Cycle Sportive, Human Race, not by London Dynamo.
Sportive routes change from year to year, and this page follows the 2014 Medium route. The London Cycle Sportive first ran in 2013, later as the FT London Cycle Sportive, and is no longer run.
On the route
The London Cycle Sportive started in Dulwich Park in south-east London and finished with a lap of Herne Hill Velodrome, the track that staged cycling at the 1948 Olympic Games. In between, the routes left the city by a fast descent and crossed the North Downs. The Medium route takes in Box Hill, the climb at the heart of the 2012 Olympic road races, and the organisers timed riders on Box Hill and on Chipstead Valley Road.
The route file starts at Dulwich Park and ends about 800m away at the velodrome, so the start and finish are close but not the same point. The route measures 103.8km with 1,223m of climbing, which gives it a Terrain label of Hilly. Its notable climbs are listed below.
This page is for riding the route outside the sportive, on your own or with friends. There are no organised feed stops, so plan your food and water for the day.
Event names and logos belong to their owners and are shown for identification only. London Dynamo is not affiliated with these events.
