About this route

This route was designed by the organisers of the Northern Angel, Wiggle and UK Cycling Events, not by London Dynamo.

Sportive routes change from year to year, and this page follows the 2013 Epic route. The Northern Angel was a Wiggle Super Series sportive that first ran in 2012 and is no longer run.

On the route

The Northern Angel started from Kirkley Hall, near Ponteland, and took in the quiet roads of Northumberland National Park and the Simonside Hills, which the organisers described as largely traffic-free.

The route measures 150.6km with 2,364m of climbing, which gives it a Terrain label of Challenging (Climbing, Steep Ramps). Its notable climbs are listed below.

This page is for riding the route outside the sportive, on your own or with friends. There are no organised feed stops, so plan your food and water for the day.

Event names and logos belong to their owners and are shown for identification only. London Dynamo is not affiliated with these events.
