An early start meant we arrived in Almunecar early enough to build bikes and head out for a short 25km (500m) warm up loop with the climb being Cerro Gordo. All were in good spirits, cycling along under blue skies and sunshine, a welcome change from the UK’s grey skies. Over the week we had highs of 26 degrees!
Day 2 was a beautiful 90km route and 1400m elevation with the climb up Gorgoracha. This was a 24km climb with the spectacular views of the coastal towns as we meandered up. The groups naturally split as we all attacked the mountain knowing the sandwich picnic awaited at the top! The route did not disappoint and a real sense of achievement was had at the top. After descending back down, this was followed by another climb for 4km at 10% gradient – a real leg-burner.

On our final day, we had the choice of a 70km or 100km route (850m or 1500m climbing) with a coffee stop at cafe Bar ‘Parada Aki Mismo’ before the group split depending on their chosen distance. The climb felt much kinder than the 24km ascent earlier in the camp and we all enjoyed iced lattes or espressos as a pit stop for our hard work after the first climb.
The afternoons were spent unwinding in the beautiful hotel enjoying the pool, sea, sunbathing and enjoying sangrias/mojitos at the beach bar or roof top! Massages in the spa or enjoying the hot tub and sauna was a welcome luxury as well! Each evening we all eagerly looked forward to our amazing restaurants with our pre chosen menu, which meant full hearts and bellies to end each incredible day surrounded by the inspiring, strong London Dynamo women. What an incredible few days to mark a successful camp for 2025!
A special mention to Alexa Forbes, Victoria Upton and Ellie Cousins who all played a big role in the organisation and delivery of the trip; and also the amazing Sierra Sports team – Paul, Triki, Alejandro and Jorge who were our amazing tour guides offering a first class experience.
Chapeau to all the women on this year’s camp! Keep your eyes peeled for 2026 Women’s Camp plans!
