About this route
This route was designed by the organisers of the Box Hill Original, UK Cycling Events, not by London Dynamo.
Sportive routes change from year to year, and this page follows the 2019 Standard route. The Box Hill Original ran in the autumn from Cranleigh, as part of the Cycling Weekly sportive series, and is no longer run.
On the route
The Box Hill Original was a late-season sportive that began and ended near Cranleigh in the Surrey Hills. It was known for a quiet first half and a second half full of climbs, with the Box Hill zigzags as the main prize. This route reaches Box Hill at about 35km and Ranmore Common at about 50km, passes close to Shere and Peaslake, and takes in Barhatch Lane near Cranleigh in the second half.
It is a hilly day for any rider, with 1,578m of climbing in 115.7km.
This page is for riding the route outside the sportive, on your own or with friends. There are no organised feed stops, so plan your food and water for the day.
Event names and logos belong to their owners and are shown for identification only. London Dynamo is not affiliated with these events.
