This scenic cycling route through the Surrey Hills takes in the climb up through the Shere Woodlands, Holmbury Hill and Leith Hill before the long descent down through Redlands Wood.

Suggested coffee stop: The Coffeee Stop at Polesden Lacy (59km)

Shere Loop

The Shere Loop cycling route into the Surrey Hills ups the elevation a bit. Rather than using Staple Lane to climb to Shere, this route takes Shere Road and Combe Lane up to the woodlands where  there is then a loop with a series of climbs and descents including St. Martha’s Hill, Alderbook Road and Sandy Lane.

Lee Valley & Epping Forest Gravel

This gravel route heads up past the lakes and marshes of the Lee Valley before looping back down through Epping Forest. The route up the valley passes the Walthamstow Wetlands, Waltham Abbey, Lee Valley Country Park and the River Lee Navigation canal. The return leg heads first out into open farmland before heading right through the heart of Epping Forest before back into London.

The Rusper Circuit

The Rusper Circuit climbs Mill Way after Leatherhead before a long flat section along Rusper Road.

At the village of Rusper, the route turns left round to the left and back to Kingston via Headley Lane to the north of Box Hill. The route finishes at the Local Hero café in Kingston.

Starting point: The Coppernose, Hampton Court.

Suggested café: Tanhouse Café, Tanhouse Farm (37km).
