Chilterns Cycling Routes

Cycling routes in the Chilterns from London, built and ridden by London Dynamo members for club rides and race training. Expect rolling hills, beech woods and quiet lanes, with distances to suit a long training ride.

These routes head north-west of London to Aldbury, Wendover, Whiteleaf Hill and West Wycombe. Ride leaders can use them to plan a club ride. We recommend that every rider loads the route onto their Garmin or Wahoo bike computer.

Each route has a GPX file, an interactive map, an elevation profile, distance and climbing figures, a Terrain label from flat to challenging, and cafe stops where we have them, so you can match a route to the group and the day.

Ride at your own risk

The routes in this Route Book have been researched with the intention that they are suitable for cycling, but not all routes have been physically road-tested. Even routes that have been ridden may contain hazards, including potholes, loose chippings, poor road surfaces, steep descents and unforeseen dangers. Road and traffic conditions can change at any time. Anyone choosing to ride a route from this Route Book does so entirely at their own risk and is responsible for assessing whether the route and conditions are suitable for them.

A steady climb out of West London, leaving London north of Uxbridge before heading into the heart of the Chilterns.
Heads west out of London via Uxbridge to the western end of the Chilterns, where a climb up Whiteleaf Hill sets up the long descent home.
Up the Thames Valley towards Marlow, then a beeline to the edge of the Chilterns for some climbing, before a long descent home via Henley.
A loop north out of Regents Park and Hampstead, skirting south of Watford to reach the eastern, Hertfordshire, end of the Chilterns and a loop around Aldbury Common.
