One Way

London to Whitstable

The London to Whitstable one-way cycling route heads south over Crystal Palace, out of London, before the climb up the side of Biggin Hill.

Then it follows the Pilgrim’s Way for much of its length between the ridges of the Downs, right through the heart of Kent, through a number of pretty villages, before climbing & descending Hollingbourne Hill and making for the coast.

Starting point: Gail’s Bakery, Clapham Old Town.

Intermediate café stop: The Friars’ team Room, Aylesford Priory (74km).

Suggested Lunch Stop: The Harbour Garden Café, Whitstable.

Return by train to Victoria.

The Bough Beech Loop cycling route crosses two ridges of the Downs, first over Biggin Hill via the Beddlestead and then the Brasted Chart climb over Toys Hill before heading to Chiddingstone. The return return passes through Bough Beech reservoir and up Ide Hill to the stunning views at the top.

The Shoreham Loop cycling route initially follows the line of the Chartwell Loop but then heads further south in a loop around Hever, up through Chiddingstone, before the long climb up Hubbards Hill. Skirting around Sevenoaks, the route goes through the pretty village of Shoreham before the wooded climb up Chelfield Lane (not one to do after heavy rain) before the leg back to London.
