One Way

London to Constable Country

This long but relatively one-way flat cycling route leaves London via the City, skirting the top of East London and heading straight through Epping Forest and the wider northern Essex countryside, before ultimately reaching the ‘Constable Country’ of Dedham Vale National Landscape and the Stour Estuary at the Suffolk border. 

Starting point: Café Society, Vauxhall Bridge.

Suggested intermediate café stop:  Snug Café, High Easter (62km).

Suggested lunch stop: Constable Park Café, Brantham. 

Return by train from Manningtree to Liverpool Street.

The Redhill Aerodrome Circuit cycling route heads south from Hampton Court Bridge, up over Box Hill before heading further south with a loop south of Reigate. There is an opportunity to stop at Redhill Aerodrome’s café to watch light aircraft take off and land. The route then heads north towards Kingston.

The Frensham Pond cycling route in the Surrey Hills heads out to the heathland and ponds beyond Guildford. After one large climb up Staple Lane to the Shere Woodlands the route turns away from the hills and begins a rolling route. Looping wide of Guildford, it heads through heathland to the area south of Godalming. From there it takes a loop around the ponds at Frensham.

The Aldbury Loop cycling route heads north out of Regents Park and Hampstead and skirts south of Watford, out into the countryside and the eastern, Hertfordshire, end of the Chilterns with a loop around Aldbury Common back to London.
