One Way

London to Brighton

This London to Brighton one-way cycling route starts from Clapham Old Town and then follows the official London-Brighton route, ploughing straight through South London, on through the heart of Sussex before the steep climb up Ditching Beacon and very fast descent down to the coast into Brighton. 

Starting point: Gails Bakery, Clapham Old Town, London. 

Suggested lunch stop: Regency Cafe, Brighton. 

Return by train to London Bridge or  Blackfriars (or change at Croydon for trains to Clapham Junction and Victoria).

Classic Surrey Hills – Long

The Classic Surrey Hills (Long Version) cycling route is the other classic London Dynamo ride in the area. This one tackles five notable climbs. After the Staple Lane climb the route descends into Shere before climbing again up Peaslake Lane, and then Leith Hill.  A fourth significant climb up to Ranmore Common is followed by the usual descent and Box Hill climb.

Lee Valley & Epping Forest Gravel

This gravel route heads up past the lakes and marshes of the Lee Valley before looping back down through Epping Forest. The route up the valley passes the Walthamstow Wetlands, Waltham Abbey, Lee Valley Country Park and the River Lee Navigation canal. The return leg heads first out into open farmland before heading right through the heart of Epping Forest before back into London.

The Knatt’s Valley cycling route goes a bit further east along the Pilgrim’s Way between the ridges of the Downs before turning left for a fairly steep climb up through Rowdow Wood. The route then descends into the picturesque Knatt’s Valley.

The West Wycombe Loop cycling route heads up the Thames Valley towards Marlow where it then makes a beeline to the edge of the Chilterns for a bit of climbing before the long descent back to London via Henley.

Tour of the Isle of Wight

The Tour of the Isle of Wight is now a London Dynamo summer tradition. After an early morning ferry from Portsmouth, the route goes anti-clockwise round the island, taking in the chain link ferry at Cowes, the steep climb up to the view point of the Needles and the fast but breezy Military Road.
