The Tour of the Isle of Wight is now a London Dynamo summer Sportive tradition.
After an early morning ferry from Portsmouth, the Tour of the Isle of Wight cycling route goes anti-clockwise round the island, taking in the chain link ferry at Cowes, the steep climb up to the view point of the Needles and the fast but breezy Military Road.
After a lunch stop in Ventnor, some steep climbs are superseded by a very rolling route back to the ferry terminal. There is also an alternative option of a short cut across the island.
WARNING: there is a dangerous tight right hand corner – after the descent that is just before Shanklin (at c. 92km). Descend into that corner with care.
